வித்தியாசமான கதைக் களத்துடன் உருவாகியுள்ள இப்படத்தின் பாடல் மற்றும் டிரெய்லர் வெளியீட்டு விழா சென்னை வடபழனி கமலா திரையரங்கில் நேற்று காலை நடைபெற்றது.
இந்த விழாவில் திரையுலகைச் சேர்ந்த பல்வேறு பிரபலங்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு படக் குழுவினரை வாழ்த்தினர்.
இந்த விழாவில் வெளியிடப்பட்ட ‘கஸ்தூரி வீடு’ டிரெய்லர், ஹாரர் காட்சிகளுடன் ஆன்மிகம், சென்டிமென்ட் மற்றும் அறிவியல் சார்ந்த அம்சங்களையும் இணைத்து உருவாக்கப்பட்டிருப்பது படத்தின் மீதான எதிர்பார்ப்பை அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
டிரெய்லர் காட்சிகள் ஆங்கிலப் படங்களுக்கு இணையான பிரம்மாண்டத்துடன் இருப்பதாக விழாவில் பங்கேற்றவர்கள் பாராட்டினர்.
படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் லயன் டாக்டர் வகேஷ் பேசும்போது,

மேலும், இன்றைய ஹாரர் படங்களிலும் ஆக்ஷன் படங்களிலும் இடம் பெறும் வன்முறைக் காட்சிகள் பல இடங்களில் ஒரே மாதிரியாகிவிட்டதாகக் குறிப்பிட்ட அவர், ‘கஸ்தூரி வீடு’வில் ஆன்மிகம், பேய், சென்டிமென்ட், அறிவியல் என பல அம்சங்கள் கலந்திருப்பதாக தெரிவித்தார்.
படத்தின் இயக்குநர் விஜய் ஆர். ஆனந்த் தனது பேச்சில், ‘கஸ்தூரி வீடு’ உருவான சுவாரஸ்யமான பின்னணியை பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.
ஒருமுறை ஒரிசாவுக்கு படப்பிடிப்புக்குச் சென்றபோது, அங்கு ஒரே ஒரு தமிழ் சேனல் மட்டுமே கிடைத்ததாகவும், அதில் சமுத்திரக்கனி நடித்த விழிப்புணர்வு விளம்பரத்தைப் பார்த்ததாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.
அந்த தருணத்தில்தான் “சமுத்திரக்கனியை வைத்து ஏன் ஒரு கதை செய்யக்கூடாது?” என்ற எண்ணம் தோன்றியதாகக் கூறினார்.
பின்னர் பூரி ஜெகநாதர் கோயிலுக்குச் சென்றபோது படத்திற்கான ‘கஸ்தூரி’ என்ற பெயரும், ஹாரர் கதைக்கான யோசனையும் கிடைத்ததாக தெரிவித்தார்.
வெறும் ரூ.50 ஆயிரம் முதலீட்டில் தொடங்கிய ‘கஸ்தூரி வீடு’, சமுத்திரக்கனி படக் குழுவுடன் இணைந்த பிறகு பெரிய படமாக மாறியதாகவும், படத்தின் தரத்திற்காக செலவு அதிகரித்ததாகவும் இயக்குநர் கூறினார்.
நாயகன் குறித்து பேசும்போது, அவரைப் பார்த்ததும் ‘வருஷம் 16’ படத்தில் நடித்த கார்த்திக் நினைவுக்கு வந்ததாகவும், அவர் மிகச் சிறப்பாக நடித்துள்ளதாகவும் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
நாயகி தனுஜா தனது நண்பரின் மகள் என்றும், படத்தில் பல சவாலான காட்சிகளில் அவர் சிறப்பாக நடித்திருப்பதாகவும் விஜய் ஆர். ஆனந்த் பாராட்டினார்.
நடிகர் டேவிட் டிட்டோ பேசும்போது, இந்தப் படத்தில் தான் நடித்ததற்கும் இந்த விழாவில் நிற்பதற்கும் முக்கிய காரணம் இயக்குநர் விஜய் ஆனந்த்தான் என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
படப்பிடிப்பில் பேய் வேடத்தில் இருந்த பெண்ணின் தோற்றம் தன்னை உண்மையாகவே பயமுறுத்தியதாகவும், படப்பிடிப்பு நடைபெற்ற வீடு நிஜமான பேய் வீடு என்று இயக்குநர் கூறியபோது இன்னும் பயமாக இருந்ததாகவும் சுவாரஸ்யமாக பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.
நாயகி தனுஜா பேசும்போது, ஒன்றரை ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு இதே கமலா திரையரங்கில் தனது மற்றொரு படத்திற்காக வந்ததாகவும், அப்போது ஒரு பகுதியாக இருந்த தனது கதாபாத்திரத்திற்கு மாறாக, தற்போது ‘கஸ்தூரி வீடு’ முழுவதும் இடம் பெறும் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரம் கிடைத்திருப்பது மகிழ்ச்சியளிப்பதாகவும் கூறினார்.
சமுத்திரக்கனியுடன் இணைந்து நடித்த அனுபவம் மறக்க முடியாதது என்றும், அனைவரும் படத்திற்கு ஆதரவு அளிக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார்.

படத்தின் விழாவுக்காக, முந்தைய நாள் இரவு படப்பிடிப்பை முடித்துவிட்டு விமானம் மூலம் சென்னை வந்ததாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.
“நாம் சரியாக உழைத்தால் ஒரு மேஜிக் நடக்கும். அந்த மேஜிக்கிற்குள் நாமெல்லாம் இருப்போம். நம் வேலையை நாம் 100 சதவீதம் செய்வோம். உண்மையாக உழைப்போம். மக்களுக்கு ஒரு நல்ல விஷயத்தைக் கொண்டு போய் சேர்ப்போம்” என்று படக்குழுவினருக்கு உற்சாகம் அளித்தார்.
தனது குருநாதர் கூறிய “உண்மையாக உழைத்தால் அது திரையில் தெரியும்; உன் உழைப்புதான் பெரிய அரணாக நிற்கும்” என்ற வார்த்தைகளை நினைவு கூர்ந்த சமுத்திரக்கனி, திரைப்பட வெற்றிக்கு படக் குழுவினரின் கடின உழைப்பே முக்கிய காரணமாக இருக்கும் என்று தெரிவித்தார்.

Presented jointly by Rentek Film, Lion V Films and Annai Cinemas, Kasturi Veedu is an upcoming Tamil film directed by Vijay R. Anand and starring Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Thambi Ramaiah, David Tito, Tanuja and Sri Varshath Anand in prominent roles.
The film’s song and trailer launch event was held at Kamala Theatre in Vadapalani, Chennai, in the presence of several personalities from the Tamil film industry.
The trailer, which blends horror, spirituality, sentiment and science, received attention at the event. The attendees appreciated the film’s visual treatment and the scale of its presentation.
Welcoming the gathering, producer Lion Dr. Vakesh recalled how the project took shape following a business meeting with director Vijay R. Anand.
He said that the director narrated the story in about 30 minutes and that, despite having heard and watched numerous stories and films, the concept felt fresh and interesting. The confidence he gained from the narration encouraged him to immediately give the go-ahead for the project.
He also praised Vijay R. Anand for his dedication and hard work throughout the shoot.
“I have been involved in several businesses and have achieved success in them. I have now entered cinema, and I believe I will succeed here as well. The film has given me that level of confidence,” he said, while thanking everyone who attended the event.
Rentek Films producer Rani Sri Reddy said that she had previously been involved in different businesses and had only recently entered the film industry.
She recalled that director Vijay Anand initially narrated the story to her in about 30 minutes and later explained it in detail, including the characters and the actors he envisioned for each role.
She also spoke about how quickly the project came together, including the association with music composer Karthik Raja.
She attributed the success she had experienced in her business ventures to the blessings of her parents and the support of her husband, adding that the same support has continued in her filmmaking journey.
She appealed to the media to extend their support to Kasturi Veedu and thanked everyone who had come to bless the team.
Special guest and Tamil Film Producers Council president G.K.M. Tamilkumaran said that cinema is a world of dreams, with producers, directors, actors and technicians entering the industry with the ambition of bringing their dreams to life.
He noted that producing a film is a challenging responsibility and congratulated the producers for venturing into filmmaking for the first time.
After watching the trailer of Kasturi Veedu, he said that it looked promising and wished the entire team success.
Director Pavithran expressed his happiness at attending the event at Kamala Theatre and recalled his memories associated with the venue.
Speaking about director Vijay Anand, he said that he had known him for several years and described him as a hardworking filmmaker.
After watching the trailer, he said that the film appeared to have been created with elements that could appeal to both family audiences and children.
He also urged audiences to encourage new and different filmmakers and wished Kasturi Veedu success.
Director Rajakumaran recalled several memories associated with Kamala Theatre, including occasions when he had received success shields for his films.
Speaking about Vijay Anand, he said that the director had personally visited homes to invite people to the event, highlighting his dedication and commitment.
He expressed confidence that Kasturi Veedu would emerge as a film worthy of attention.
He also praised Samuthirakani, describing him as a simple and hardworking person who has earned affection across the industry and is always supportive of his friends and fellow artistes.
Director Perarasu praised Samuthirakani for taking up films like Kasturi Veedu despite his growing presence across multiple Indian languages.
He said that Samuthirakani has become a familiar face beyond Tamil cinema and that his association with smaller-scale films deserves appreciation.
Perarasu also spoke about the film’s title, Kasturi Veedu, and observed that houses are traditionally associated with the names of women in many families.
Speaking about the current trend of horror and action films, he noted that several elements have become common across both genres.
He added that Kasturi Veedu combines spirituality, horror, sentiment and science, and wished the team success.
Director Vijay R. Anand shared the interesting story behind the origin of Kasturi Veedu.
He recalled an incident during a shoot in Odisha, where only one Tamil television channel was available at the hotel. A song featuring Superstar Rajinikanth was playing, followed by an awareness advertisement featuring Samuthirakani.
That moment made him wonder why he could not create a story specifically with Samuthirakani in mind. This thought eventually developed into the film.
He further revealed that a visit to the Puri Jagannath Temple resulted in two significant ideas — the title Kasturi and the decision to develop the story as a horror film.
“The film initially began with an investment of just Rs. 50,000. After Samuthirakani sir came on board, it became a much bigger film,” he said.
The director admitted that he was initially nervous about approaching Samuthirakani and wondered how he would be able to work with him. However, he said that Samuthirakani put him at ease and delivered an excellent performance.
Speaking about the film’s lead actor, Vijay Anand said that his appearance reminded him of actor Karthik from Varusham 16, and praised his ability to understand instructions quickly and perform effectively.
He also praised actress Tanuja, whom he described as the daughter of a friend and someone he considers like his own child. He said that she performed several challenging sequences exceptionally well and even delivered emotional scenes without using glycerine.
The director revealed that the film became much bigger during production, with the expenditure eventually increasing fourfold.
“If a film has to look good, investment is necessary,” he said, while requesting audiences and the media to support the film.
Actor David Tito said that the primary reason for his presence in the film and at the event was director Vijay Anand.
He expressed gratitude to the director and said that although his performance had been described as challenging, the director had gone through much greater difficulties during the making of the film.
Sharing a humorous experience from the shoot, he revealed that he was frightened by the realistic makeup of a woman portraying a ghost in the film. He also recalled being even more nervous when the director told him that one of the houses used for filming was believed to be a real haunted house.
Actress Tanuja said that she had attended an event at the same Kamala Theatre about one-and-a-half years ago for another film.
While she had appeared only in a portion of that film, she is now playing a character that features throughout Kasturi Veedu, which she described as a significant opportunity.
She expressed her happiness about getting a substantial role and praised Samuthirakani as a respected personality.
She said that working with him was a memorable experience and requested audiences to support the film.
Actor-director Samuthirakani thanked everyone who had contributed to the event and described his association with Kasturi Veedu as a wonderful journey.
He said that meeting new people and travelling with new filmmakers is something he enjoys, describing it as a gift from God.
Samuthirakani revealed that he had travelled to Chennai by flight after completing a shoot the previous night in order to attend the event.
Speaking about the importance of supporting new filmmakers, he said that films such as this need someone to stand behind them and give them a face and an opportunity.
Addressing director Vijay Anand, he emphasised the importance of sincere hard work.
“If we work properly, a magic will happen. All of us will be part of that magic. Let us believe in it. We should do our work and give it 100 per cent. We should work honestly and take something good to the audience,” he said.
Recalling advice from his mentor, Samuthirakani said that genuine hard work would always be visible on screen and that one’s effort would eventually become the strongest support for the film.
Citing the success of Mandadi as an example of how the collective efforts of actors, directors and technicians can become the strength of a film, he urged the Kasturi Veedu team to continue giving their best.
He concluded by praying for the film’s grand success and extended his heartfelt wishes to the producers, director, actors, actresses and technicians who worked on the project.
