சமூகத்தின் மறைக்கப்பட்ட குற்றப் பின்னணிகளையும், அதன் தாக்கத்தில் சிக்கிக் கொள்ளும் ஒரு சாதாரண குடும்பத்தின் உணர்வுப் போராட்டத்தையும் மையமாகக் கொண்டு உருவாகும் புதிய திரைப்படம் ‘அண்டர் – 18’ (Under – 18).
எஸ்.ஆர். புரொடக்ஷன்ஸ் சார்பில் தயாரிப்பாளர் ஜெகதீஸ் தயாரிக்கும் இந்தப் படத்தின் பூஜை விழா, திரையுலகின் பல முன்னணி பிரபலங்கள் முன்னிலையில் சென்னையில் கோலாகலமாக நடைபெற்றது.
‘மெட்ராஸ்காரன்’ திரைப்படத்தின் வெற்றிக்குப் பிறகு ஜெகதீஸ் தயாரிக்கும் இரண்டாவது படைப்பாக உருவாகும் இந்தப் படத்தை, இயக்குநர் வெற்றிமாறனின் நீண்டகால இணை இயக்குநரான கார்த்திக் பெருமாள் சாமி இயக்குகிறார்.
இந்தப் படத்தில் கிச்சா சுதீப், ஐஸ்வர்யா ராஜேஷ், விக்ராந்த், கிஷோர் சேத்தன் உள்ளிட்டோர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடிக்கின்றனர். மேலும் பல முன்னணி நடிகர்களும் முக்கிய வேடங்களில் இணைய உள்ளதாக படக்குழு தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
மருத்துவராக வேண்டும் என்ற கனவுடன் வாழும் ஒரு இளைஞன், எதிர்பாராத சூழ்நிலையால் திட்டமிட்டு செயல்படும் குற்றக் கும்பலின் வலையில் சிக்கிக்கொள்கிறான். அந்த இளைஞனை மீட்டெடுக்க பெற்றோர் மேற்கொள்ளும் போராட்டமும், அதனால் உருவாகும் உணர்ச்சி மிக்க சம்பவங்களுமே ‘அண்டர் – 18’ படத்தின் மையக் கருவாக அமைந்துள்ளது.
குற்ற உலகின் மறுபக்கத்தையும், அதன் விளைவால் பாதிக்கப்படும் குடும்பங்களின் மனநிலையையும் ஆழமாக பதிவு செய்யும் இந்தப் படம், சமூக யதார்த்தத்தையும் குடும்ப உணர்வுகளையும் இணைத்து பேசும் முயற்சியாக உருவாகி வருகிறது.
படத்தின் பூஜை விழாவில் நடிகர் சரத்குமார், நடிகை ராதிகா, நடிகர் நட்டி, தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் ஃபைவ் ஸ்டார் கதிரேசன், ஆர்.கே. சுரேஷ், நடிகை ஸ்ரீபிரியா, இயக்குநர் எஸ்.ஆர். பிரபாகரன், ஒளிப்பதிவாளர் வேல்ராஜ், நடிகர் தங்கதுரை உள்ளிட்ட பலர் கலந்துகொண்டு படக்குழுவினருக்கு வாழ்த்து தெரிவித்தனர்.
நிகழ்ச்சியில் பேசிய பலரும், இயக்குநர் கார்த்திக் பெருமாள் சாமியின் நீண்டகால அனுபவம் மற்றும் வெற்றிமாறன் பள்ளியில் கற்ற சினிமா பார்வை இந்தப் படத்தை தனித்துவமான படைப்பாக மாற்றும் என்று நம்பிக்கை தெரிவித்தனர். அதேபோல், விக்ராந்தின் அர்ப்பணிப்பும், ஐஸ்வர்யா ராஜேஷின் கதைத் தேர்வும் படத்திற்கு கூடுதல் பலமாக அமையும் என பாராட்டினர்.
படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் ஜெகதீஸ் பேசுகையில், “வித்தியாசமான கதைக்களத்துடன் உருவாகும் இந்தப் படம் பார்வையாளர்களுக்கு புதிய அனுபவத்தை தரும். கதை மீது நம்பிக்கை வைத்து இந்த முயற்சியை தொடங்கியுள்ளோம். அனைவரின் ஆதரவுடனும் இது வெற்றிப் படமாக அமையும் என்ற நம்பிக்கை உள்ளது” என்றார்.
இயக்குநர் கார்த்திக் பெருமாள் சாமி கூறுகையில், “இந்தக் கதையை பல ஆண்டுகளாக மனதில் சுமந்து வந்தேன். உண்மை சம்பவங்களின் தாக்கத்துடன், சமூகத்திற்கு தேவையான ஒரு முக்கியமான கருத்தை பேசும் படமாக இது இருக்கும். என்னுடைய முழு உழைப்பையும் இந்தப் படத்திற்காக வழங்குவேன்” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
‘அண்டர் – 18’ திரைப்படத்தின் படப்பிடிப்பு விரைவில் தொடங்கப்பட உள்ளது. சென்னை, செங்கல்பட்டு மற்றும் ஓசூர் பகுதிகளில் முக்கிய காட்சிகள் படமாக்கப்பட உள்ளன. இயல்பான இடங்கள் மற்றும் நிஜத்தன்மை கொண்ட காட்சியமைப்புகளுடன் திரைப்படம் உருவாகும் என படக் குழு தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

Crime Network, Family Struggle and Social Reality: ‘Under-18’ Set to Explore a Hard-Hitting Subject
A new socially relevant film titled “Under-18” is set to bring to the screen the hidden realities of organized crime and the emotional turmoil faced by an ordinary family caught in its grip. Produced by Jagadeesh under the banner of SR Productions, the film was officially launched with a grand pooja ceremony attended by several leading personalities from the Tamil film industry.
Following the success of Madras Kaaran, Under-18 marks the second production venture of Jagadeesh. The film is directed by Karthik Perumal Sami, who previously worked as an associate director with acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran.
The film features Kichcha Sudeep, Aishwarya Rajesh, Vikranth, and Kishore Chethan in pivotal roles, with several other prominent actors expected to join the cast.
At the heart of Under-18 is the story of an innocent young man who dreams of becoming a doctor but unexpectedly finds himself trapped in a carefully orchestrated criminal network. The film follows the emotional and relentless struggle of his parents as they fight to rescue him from the dangerous circumstances surrounding his life.
Blending social realism with family emotions, the film aims to shed light on the darker side of organized crime and the devastating impact it can have on ordinary families.
The launch event was attended by prominent personalities including Sarathkumar, Radhika Sarathkumar, Natti, Five Star Kathiresan, RK Suresh, Sripriya, director S.R. Prabhakaran, cinematographer Velraj, actor Thangadurai, and many others, who extended their best wishes to the team.
Several speakers praised director Karthik Perumal Sami’s experience and creative vision shaped through his long association with Vetrimaaran. They expressed confidence that the film would stand out for its authenticity and strong storytelling.
The dedication of Vikranth and the careful script selection of Aishwarya Rajesh were also highlighted as major strengths of the project.
Speaking at the event, producer Jagadeesh said, “This film offers a unique and powerful story that will provide audiences with a fresh cinematic experience. We have embarked on this journey with complete faith in the script and believe it will emerge as a successful film.”
Director Karthik Perumal Sami added, “I have carried this story with me for several years. It is inspired by realities that deserve to be spoken about. Through this film, we hope to present an emotionally engaging narrative that also holds social relevance. I will give my complete dedication to this project.”
Principal photography for Under-18 is scheduled to commence shortly. Key portions of the film will be shot across Chennai, Chengalpattu, and Hosur, with the makers aiming to capture real locations and natural environments to enhance the film’s authenticity.
